Some facts about me: With nearly 20 years experience and training in psychotherapy, I have incorporated valuable insights and a number of approaches and tools into my practice of psychotherapy. I completed a 6-year graduate degree in Clinical Psychology in Germany, evaluated as equivalent to a Master's Degree by the University of Toronto, emigrated to Canada and completed further training and internships in various approaches to psychotherapy. In 1995, I founded the Port Credit Psychotherapy Centre as my private practice. I have presented numerous workshops and conducted groups on stress management, body image and disordered eating, healthy relationships and conflict resolution. I am trained in family mediation and marriage and family therapy. As and immigrant I am sensitive to issues facing all newcomers to Canada. I speak fluent German as well as English and a little French. I have worked in non-profit agencies, running women's groups and providing supervision to the front-line staff in a women's shelter. I have served on the Board of the Ontario Association of Interval and Transition Houses, advocating for services for abused women and their children. I have also been a long-standing member of the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Consultants, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP) and am now a certified member of this organization, which represents Master's level psychology graduates and advocates for broad and ethical professional services to the wider public. Since 1998, I work full-time as a psychotherapist in a major Toronto hospital, continuing my private practice on a part-time basis. As a certified member I follow the ethical guidelines of OACCPP www.oaccpp.ca
