MaryAnne Terry (She/Her), BA, MACP, RP, C.C.C.

Life can be difficult, complicated and often quite overwhelming. Getting help along the way is a courageous way to care for and nurture yourself forward to an empowered way toward better mental, emotional, relational and spiritual well-being.

I believe we experience life in terms of relationships. Through the dynamic relationships we have with ourselves, the people and world around us, we learn and adapt, while gathering our strengths and, unfortunately, our wounds and fears. The therapeutic relationship can be an important tool in helping you embrace healing, acceptance and growth in all relationships. Using a collaborative and conversational approach, my goal is to provide a respectful and comfortable space to share your experiences and work together to discover, or re- discover, the potential and strengths of your authentic and best self while finding meaning and purpose that encourages both resilience and growth.

My approach is wholistic in nature making use of therapeutic tools and strategies as directed by each client’s uniqueness – as the client is ultimately their own best therapist. I tend to begin using Attachment based Psychodynamics, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) as my foundational frame and then borrow liberally from Emotional Focus Therapy (EFT), Trauma Informed and the behavioural and expressive therapies. Therapy is a dynamic and flexible process, with no fixed way to address all concerns, but rather with expertise and flexibility, I let the client guide the process forward.

I hold a Masters of Counselling Psychology, and am a Registered Psychotherapist (R.P.) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), as well as a member of highest standing (C.C.C. designation) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I am also a Certified Life Coach, with a previous degrees and work experience related to my Business Administration and Bachelor of Art degrees. I have worked in businesses, schools and religious environments, and continue to enjoy working with diverse populations and responding to a broad range of mental health concerns. At present I work with emerging adults over 15 years, with adults of any age, and with couples of any kind providing pre-marital, relationship, marriage and divorce counselling.
